National Reconciliation Week
We agree that reconciliation is more than a word: it requires action.
To mark the beginning of National Reconciliation Week, we unveiled an art display by Aboriginal artist Ryhia Dank (@nardurna), whose work is a contemporary, kaleidoscopic portal into First Nations culture.
Ryhia Dank is a Gudanji and Wakaja woman, who grew up in a remote community in the Northern Territory – she got to know her Country through the stories told by her family and by walking the places of her ancestors.
Dank’s painting is story work and draws upon the methods of the Gudanji/Wakaja people, who told stories through pattern and design. The artist calls her storying ‘Nardurna,’ meaning woman in her language.
